Term: 2015-16 Academic Year STVU Winter

Description

Situating several black religious leaders and movements within their historical and ideological contexts, this course seeks to analyze and engage critically different ways in which African Americans defined leadership and its aim(s). Embracing leadership as a theopolitical vocation, numerous black religious practitioners and intellectuals invested in "uplifting the race" for the good of American life and for global impact. These leaders and lessons from history will inform the development of a 21st century leadership praxis for congregations and communities.
