We are pleased that you are interested in applying to Virginia Union University. The selection committee reviews all complete applications on a rolling basis and decisions are based on the student’s scholastic achievement, character, and evidence of aptitude for achievement. Notification of the admission decision is sent to the applicant shortly after all credentials are received. Financial aid and academic scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to those who qualify.  This program is best used with Google Chrome web browser.


 
Undergraduate Application

Freshman Applicants - Are applicants enrolled in high school or have graduated from high school and have not attended any accredited college or university. Applicants must provide evidence of having been awarded a secondary high school diploma or a GED. A minimum of 14 units, accumulated in grades nine through twelve are required for high school graduates.

Transfer Students- A transfer student is defined as an applicant who has graduated from high school, has attended another regionally accredited post secondary institution, and has attempted one or more courses, is considered a transfer student regardless of credit earned. A student seeking to earn a degree as a transfer student at Virginia Union University must take a minimum of 30 credit hours at Virginia Union University.      
 
International Students - All applicants that are Non-USA residents.
 
Dual Enrolled- Applicants who are currently enrolled in high school while taking courses at any accredited college or university
 
Second Degree- A second degree applicant is someone who earned a bachelor's degree  from an accredited college or university and is in need of implementing a complete change of their career path. 
    Accelerated Degree Program and Criminal Justice Program  
   
On-line applicants are potential students interested in the Accelerated program in the Education or taking on-line course through Criminal Justice. Acceptance to Virginia Union University, does not guarantee acceptance into the programs. It is recommended that applicants have at least 2 years of work experience and have completed 45 hours of higher education.
    Non-Matriculation  
   
Non-Matriculation are potential students who want to enroll at the University but do not want to pursue a degree. Non-matriculating applicants cannot receive scholarships. Applicants for non-matriculation include the Teacher Education Department that offers a Continuing Education Outreach Initiative which offers prospective and practicing teachers courses making them eligible for licensure. Please see the Teacher's Licensure checklist for more details. Non-matriculating students are also include Police Officer Recruits.
